The Seventh Continent
Ice, ice everywhere, how much longer will it be there? The Seventh Continent is not devoid of life, it is life. The land of pure silence and home to the South Pole and Port Lockroy –Â a former British research station turned museum. Stepping off a jet and onto the icy runway is synonymous with stepping on the moon – 14 million square kilometres of mysterious landmass and situated almost entirely within the Antarctic Circle so the temperatures a below zero throughout most of the year. This is the 7th Continent – the 5th largest of them all.
