This is instinctive for Mantis. Our philosophy over the past 2+ decades has been: Conservation, community and a meaningful connection to place. With this new global shift to nature-led travel, we are proud to be adding three new, distinctive eco-luxury properties to our collection this year.
- Mantis Hiddn in Addo, South Africa: A secluded off-grid mountain sanctuary, opening 1 March 2026
- Saij Mountain Lodge by Mantis, UAE: The brand’s first property in the country,
- Basiqat by Mantis, Saudi Arabia: An expansive eco-luxury resort near Riyadh, opening towards the end of the year
These properties all combine distinguished design and high-end amenities with eco-conscious operations. Each is carefully and thoughtfully built using locally sourced, natural materials to complement the surrounding landscapes. All use renewable energy, waste reduction systems and water-saving systems.
The reverence to nature extends to the both the cuisine and guest experiences. Menu’s include locally grown, organic or ethically sourced ingredients, showcasing regional flavours and traditions. Experiences encompass wellness programmes, as well as locally guided nature immersions and community interaction.
It’s a further shift from eco-luxury to regenerative travel: How properties are built, operate and who benefits.

Quiet luxury
Over the past 25 years we have offered exceptional locations. Places that felt rare yet respectful of the environment. Now we are seeing a growing demand for slower journeys, multi-generational travel and experiences that combine comfort with purpose.
Destinations that create opportunities for quiet, meaningful encounters with the natural world, that allow conservation, community partnerships and sustainability initiatives to function authentically.
According to the Global Ecotourism Network, travellers are looking for immersive, transformative travel experiences. They are no longer content to simply observe the world’s most remarkable ecosystems, they want to engage with them. They also want to hear stories passed down through generations, to learn more about sustainability practices that protect endangered species, support anti-poaching initiatives and support local communities.
All of this mirrors what we do and stand for at Mantis.
A sanctuary in South Africa
In South Africa’s Eastern Cape, Mantis Hiddn in Addo is set high above the valleys within an 800 hectare private reserve, the lodge has been designed to blend with its surroundings and is totally off-grid.
With just 12 mountain suites and two private villas, it prioritises space, stillness and immersion. Interiors have earthy textures and handcrafted details. Exteriors boast expansive decks – with wood fired KolKol tubs – overlooking the mountains.
Experiences include guided wilderness encounters, botanical inspired wellness rituals and private access to the Addo Elephant National Park.
